Free Studio Time

This might be a crazy idea, but let's see what happens.

I am very fortunate to be a full-time record maker, and at the moment, I have a lovely little studio in Coogee, NSW, as my creative home (proud parent photos below).

I think we can all agree that the world is proving to be a difficult place at the moment. I often turn to music to navigate these complicated events and emotions. I’ve been thinking about how to respond, especially in the aftermath of the referendum, and I want to be able to offer access to the space I find so helpful for processing and healing through music.

I'm experimenting with free studio time at my private studio in Coogee, purely for writing and recording. This would be aimed at artists who are finding it difficult to afford studio time or don’t normally have access to professional recording facilities. I might keep it to one or two sessions a month at this stage. Sessions would be one day without post-work (mixing, editing etc). Just me and the studio from 11 am - 6 pm. You will, of course, keep everything we record.

Sadly I can’t offer wheelchair access at this point due to the entry to the building the studio is in. I will prioritise First Nations artists and people from diverse backgrounds/communities. If you have some songs you want to record or write, fill in the form and tell me about it.

If this feels casual, it's because it is.

I hope to see you in the studio soon.

Much love - Kiah
